Holiday planning

Once you’ve made your booking we’ll email you a pre-arrival information guide on places to shop, eat and visit in Frome and nearby to help you get the best out of the area.

Environment

We’ve been working hard to restore the buildings and land in an environmentally sensitive way, since discovering them in a neglected state back in 1999. Local skilled craftsmen were involved in the restoration work. Stone has been reused – if you look closely at the wall around the Coach House, built using the old cobbles, you will see how they have been flattened from the wear of a horse and cart.

Our woodland is actively sustainably managed to make it as diverse as possible for wildlife, providing a mix of habitats for bird species including woodpeckers and tawny owls, as well as providing homes to bats, butterflies and bees.  We mow garden paths using a lawnmower and leave the rest to grow as a meadow using a scythe to cut the grass once a year.

Items you find inside have, wherever possible, been bought locally. A rainwater harvesting tank collects water from the roof for the toilets. Logs provided for the woodburner are from our woodland and are properly dried before being burnt.  You’re encouraged to use the recycle bin.  We are a suitable place to stay if you wish to travel here by public transport plus our pre-arrival pack is full of information about how to explore the area by foot, bike, bus or train.  If arriving by electric vehicle, there is an EV charger.

For our marketing, we use Sawday’s, a certified B corporation company. B corp companies are verified by B Lab UK to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
